The Eastmark High School Firebird Marching Band came in eighth at the Arizona Marching Band Championships on Nov. 13.
The group performed in a qualifying show at Casteel High School in Queen Creek as well as the championship performance at Mountain Pointe High School in Ahwatukee.
There were 41 bands in their division, Division 1A, and this was the first year in full competitive participation as a marching band for the Firebirds.
There are 29 members of the Firebird Marching Band, mostly ninth and tenth graders, and three seniors this year.
“I am very proud of the work our students have accomplished in their first season as a band,” said Jacob Campos, band director at Eastmark.
