When Combs Middle School Principal Laura Ridge heard about a Queen Creek boy in her neighborhood who was mocked after kids tore up invites to his birthday party, she knew just what to do. With the support of her school community, she brought gifts and cards to celebrate Kamari on his eighth birthday.
The J.O. Combs Unified School District said in a Facebook post: "This kind of genuine love and commitment to community epitomizes the type of people who dedicate their lives to public education. Making sure that a child who doesn't even attend her school still felt supported on his birthday is just one reason we're so grateful for people like Principal Ridge."
