Bring the family to Queen Creek and join the San Tan Chapter of the Arizona Archeology Society for a day of free hands-on learning and demonstrations pertaining to our local community archeology and history this Saturday, March 26.
We will be doing sandpainting, adobe brick making, flintknapping, pottery, petroglyph making and other activities for all ages. You may even learn how to start a fire with your bare hands.
There will be information available about the Site Steward Program that monitors and preserves our cultural resources. There will also be information about safe desert hiking. There will be information from the Pinal County Historical Museum and a table all about cotton. There will be demonstrations of ancient tools and skills by the Study of Ancient Lifeways and Technologies (S.A.L.T.).
The archeology fair will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the grounds of San Tan Historical Museum, 20425 S. Ellsworth Road in Queen Creek. The museum will be open during the fair so you can learn all about the original schoolhouse in Queen Creek.
