Beach Ball, a signature Valley tradition of trading tuxedos and glittering gowns for resort wear to raise funds for Phoenix Children’s Hospital, was back March 26. It took on a new cocktail party format and raised more than $1 million at the Arizona Biltmore Spire Bar and Lawn.
Generous sponsors and guests raised money to support Phoenix Children’s delivery of world-class care for generations to come. A portion of proceeds raised benefits the Hope Fund and goes to support the areas of greatest need at Phoenix Children’s. This fund allows the hospital to respond immediately to urgent needs and continue to be there for every child who needs help, every time. Participation and fundraising efforts will also support over 60 programs and services fully funded through philanthropy.
Additionally, to keep up with growing demand and to provide every child with the best that medicine has to offer, Phoenix Children’s has announced expansion plans with additional locations throughout the Metro Phoenix area, furthering its reach and giving even more patients better access all over the state.
“Beach Ball is an essential event to provide the funding we need for our children,” said Steve Schnall, senior vice president and chief development officer at Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation. “Having country performing artist Chase Rice made this a year to remember. It was an inspiring evening of fun and friendship while supporting the excellence that marks world-class, destination programs at Phoenix Children’s. We couldn’t do it without the support of our sponsors, donors and guests, and I’m always moved by their generosity.”
Proceeds also benefited a new fund to honor Phoenix Children’s employees to show appreciation for their monumental efforts over the past two years. This fund will provide resources to recognize and support employees, with a focus on initiatives that foster wellness and resilience, such as an onsite wellness center, onsite therapists and self-care workshops. The fund will also provide support for promising new initiatives identified by the Wellness Department.
A longtime tradition at Beach Ball includes recognizing an individual or group with the Dr. Herbert J. and Julie Louis “Spirit of Hope” Award. Employees of Phoenix Children’s were honored with the award this year in a dazzling tribute to their contribution to Phoenix Children’s.
