Bookmans' Summer Reads program rewards loyal customers while also giving back to the community

While the Summer Reads program goes until Sept. 1, the special "buy-nine-get-the-10th-free" Summer Reads card distribution ends on Aug. 15, and the cards must be redeemed by Sept. 1. The program benefits local nonprofit, Southwest Human Development, so it's a win-win: expand your personal library and help foster a love of reading in the community this summer.

What’s better than getting lost in a great book on these hot summer days? How about getting a book for free while also giving back to the community?

Now through Sept. 1, Bookmans is making that possible with its Summer Reads program, aimed at rewarding loyal customers while also giving back to the community. Grab a "buy-nine-get-the-10th-free" Summer Reads card and every time you purchase a book, Bookmans will stamp your card. Fill your card with nine stamps, and that 10th book is on Bookmans. But the rewards don't stop there because for every completed card turned in, Bookmans will donate a book to local literacy nonprofit, Southwest Human Development.

“At Bookmans, we believe in the power of reading to transform lives,” said Ryan Dillard, director of communications for Bookmans. “Our Summer Reads program is a way for us to show appreciation to our customers and support literacy in our community. We’re thrilled to see our customers' shelves and local non-profits’ shelves fill up with books again this summer.”

It's a win-win: expand your personal library and help foster a love of reading in the community.

"We are thrilled about our partnership with Bookmans, a terrific book store that is truly philanthropic. The books we will receive from the summer reading program will go to young children in our programs who are not likely to have books in their homes," said Jake Adams, chief development officer at Southwest Human Development. "We know that access to books at a young age is a significant barrier to developing a lifelong love of reading."

While the Summer Reads program goes until Sept. 1, the special "buy-nine-get-the-10th-free" Summer Reads card distribution ends on Aug. 15, and the cards must be redeemed by Sept. 1.

The Summer Reads card can be picked up at any of the three Bookmans locations in Mesa, Phoenix and Flagstaff. Mesa is the closest location to Queen Creek, at 1056 S. Country Club Dr. in the East Valley, off the US 60.

Be sure that after you ask a cashier for your Summer Reads card that you have them stamp the card when you purchase a book. Every book equals one stamp. Once your card has nine stamps, turn it in for a free book (up to $40 in value) at any Bookmans location and at the same time, for every completed card, Bookmans will donate a book to Southwest Human Development.

Stamps can be accumulated over multiple visits or in a single purchase. There is no limit to the number of cards a customer can receive. Free book redemptions are valid for any new or used fiction, nonfiction, young adult and kids books, and graphic novels. Rare books, RPG books, audiobooks and comic books are excluded from this promotion. Cards dated 2024 are the only ones eligible for redemption. Bookmans is not responsible for lost or stolen cards. A new card will be issued upon request, but previously earned stamps will not be transferred.
