Barro’s Pizza, especially the Queen Creek location, did its part once again to help fight hunger in Arizona.
On Dec. 7, all Barro’s Pizza locations hosted the 10th Annual Doran Barro Holiday Hunger Fight and raised more than $330,000 for St. Mary’s Food Bank.
“It’s been a tough couple years for people, so helping the hungry in our community was especially important this year,” said Mike Barro, co-owner of Barro’s Pizza. “Each December we honor our mother, Doran Barro, by donating one hundred percent of our sales at all our locations to St. Mary’s Food Bank. Our customers and employees, once again, came through, and we are so grateful for their loyalty and support.”
One hundred percent of all sales on Dec. 7 from all 46 Barro’s locations in both Phoenix and Tucson donated to St. Mary’s Food Bank to help those in Arizona facing hard times during the holidays. With this year’s contribution, Barro’s Pizza has now raised more than $2.1 million which equals almost 15,000,000 meals for Arizona’s hungry and every dollar raised equates to seven meals served. The Doran Barro Holiday Hunger Fight is St. Mary’s Food Bank’s largest cause-related marketing effort each year.
“We thank and salute the Barro family and all their loyal customers who support the Doran Barro Holiday Hunger Fight each year,” St. Mary’s President and CEO Tom Kertis said. “To realize that this event has provided enough food for 15 million meals over 10 years is amazing and a tribute to the commitment the Barro Family has to help the hungry of Arizona.”
