Queen Creek Town Council presented with awards from local, national organizations

It's award season for the Town of Queen Creek!

At the Nov. 20 meeting, the Queen Creek Town Council was presented with awards from the Arizona Association for Economic Development (AAED)Arizona Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA)Intelligent Transportation Society (ITS) of Arizona, and the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Phoenix chapter.

AAED awarded the Golden Prospector Deal of the Year to the Town of Queen Creek and the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) for LG Energy Solution. The award honors significant contributions to the advancement of economic development in the state of Arizona. After a national search involving multiple regions in North America, LG Energy Solution announced the historic $3.2 billion investment in Queen Creek, bringing nearly 3,000 jobs.

AZ SWANA awarded the Town’s solid waste division with the Municipality of the Year. The award noted the new initiatives introduced this year included conducting cart inventory with RFID tags and scanners, paperless cart inspection and a glass pilot program at the QC Recycle Center.

ITS of Arizona award Marshall Riegel, the Town’s Traffic Engineer, with the Best Use of an ITS Industry Product. The project included installation of a system-wide traffic detection technology. The project will allow the Town to make signal timing changes in real time, increasing efficiencies and performance measures.

The Town received three Awards of Merit from PRSA Phoenix for the updated parks and recreation branding, the “Brocklamation” honoring local Super Bowl star Brock Purdy, and the Invest the QC Mini Brochure. A Copper Anvil was received for the communication plan for the Town’s utility billing system that launched in 2023.
