Queen Creek Unified School District's January students and employees of the month come from Silver Valley Elementary.
Harper Murphy – Student of the Month from Silver Valley Elementary
Harper Murphy has demonstrated dedication to her academics, her growth mindset, her positive attitude and leadership in and out of the classroom. Harper approaches each day with a positive attitude and growth mindset. No matter the subject area, she is ready to work towards her goals. Harper is a prime example of “Be Kind, Be Respectful, and Show Integrity,” I can always count on her to follow expectations and lead others to do so as well. Harper is inclusive towards all her friends, ensuring that nobody is left out.
Alexander Shafer Shuler – Student of the Month from Silver Valley Elementary
Alexander Shafer Shuler is a student who is respectful, responsible and who shows integrity each and every day. He is always the "caboose" when we line up because he wants to be sure no one is left behind. He is always respectful of the property and feelings of other students. He has grown this year by leaps and bounds, learning how to work together as a group, joining with his peers to play games and enjoying "hands-on" projects during class instruction. Alex shows a great deal of integrity when completing his work and is not happy until he feels that he has accomplished a task with mastery.
Employees of the Month from Silver Valley Elementary
Shyla Shankle is new to the Queen Creek Unified School District. She is one of the first teachers to volunteer for committees and spend time supporting district-wide goals. When staff members were asked to explain why she is so special to Silver Valley Elementary (SVE), here are some responses:
- "She stepped up to the plate and has helped the second grade team out with it all. She does it with a smile. She's amazing."
- "Shyla is kind and cares about her students. She is always willing to help with anything around the school. She is a team player in all aspects. We are so happy she joined SVE."
- "Shyla is always positive towards her students and co-workers. She spreads positivity and happiness throughout our school."
Gladis Murillo has done an amazing job as a consistent aide in the self-contained room. She even has history of being a custodian for the building. She really is willing to do whatever the school needs with a smile on her face. She has built wonderful relationships with the students she works with. Gladis is the most dedicated, efficient, kind, hardworking team member. She is like having a sidekick; ready to help in any way she can. The Sped classroom would not be the same without her. Her love and passion for her job, and more importantly, our students is very evident and her dedication is unmatched. Thank you Gladis for always showing up and going the extra mile.
Janelle Deguzman has been a true savior for Silver Valley. Anytime she is called or on campus she is assisting us with different strategies to help our students. She attends family meetings to help ensure that parents are understanding what is being discussed. She observes students and comes up with plans to help the teacher differentiate with different behaviors.
Alexa Mann's work with the PTSO is incredible. She volunteers the hours of a full-time job and then some. She organizes events to spoil the teachers and shows incredible leadership. Alexa always does what is best for the school. She cares so much about the students and staff. She goes above and beyond.
